Beginner Info
Hi,
If you’re nervous about attending your first jam, try reading through some free rope resources online.
I wouldn’t advise randomly searching online from zero, but these are some of the resources that helped me!
1. Hand Checks
Shibari Study Hand Checks Video
From the moment you start you could be putting a wrist into a tie so knowing the nerves impacted by that is important! Please take a look!
2. Single column tie
This is the basis of most shibari harnesses. A non-collapsible knot is the basis of a sturdy single column tie.

3. Further study (if you want!)
These are tutorials about how to do a sommerville bowline. Each one is the same knot - the first with a video only, the second with a video and written explanation and the final with pictures only.

It’s super hard to practice by yourself and without rope, but hopefully these online resources will give a conceptual basis to your beginnings and any first ties.
We can’t wait to see you at the jam!
